Robert’s Torment
This particular poem is dedicated to my boyfriend, as a candy addict, this spoke to his soul.
Robert couldn’t stop thinking about the candy
In its colorful and sticky sweet form,
“Now if only it could be infused with brandy!”
He worked for evenings, to make brandy candy
To toil and moil became his new norm,
Robert couldn’t stop thinking about the candy
He tried to convince me that candy was dandy
Whatever he said, I would not conform,
“I swear I can make you some brandy candy!”
Candy was toxic enough without brandy
He shrugged and sighed, but wouldn’t reform
Robert couldn’t stop thinking about the candy
Then one day, Robert burst in like a dandy
Dressed to the nines, totally transformed
“I think I finally made some brandy candy!”
Into the air he tossed his sweets, quite grandly
And with this he only earned my scorn
Robert couldn’t stop thinking about the candy
“I told you I could make candy with brandy!”
