Killing of a Sacred Deer (2022)

Since I’ve always thought herbivores had mouths full of nightmare-fuel teeth, I picked a white-tail deer skull to reference for this painting. I wanted to practice focusing more on animal forms while still paying attention to anatomy and working with bones and shading. Monochrome pieces are excellent ways to practice something new, by taking out the extra variable of coloration—I ended up adding a background with color to complement and contrast against the skull.
