News: March 24, 2020

This week I dove into ghost ships, both the scientific theories of how they exist (and they do!) as well as the lore that surrounds them, but I also did two more Lovecraft-centric articles, one about the creatures that were made famous years after his death, as well as a sort of send-off to his legacy as an author. There are a lot of less than cheery parts of his personal viewpoints that I purposefully neglected to speak about, as they did little to actually contribute to his work in the realm of horror, so while they may be incredibly relevant when in regards to him as a human being, I didn’t feel as if they were relevant to his body of work.

What is a ghost ship exactly? Well, within lore it’s a ship that is considered to be haunted by a ghost crew, which brings it into the realm of the paranormal, but really what it is when talking in mixed company that might not all enjoy the odd theory of the paranormal or supernatural occurrences within their safe, normal world, it’s actually just a vessel with no living crew aboard. Phantom ships, as they are also known can be haunted vessels within folklore and fictional sources, but in the realm of the factually supported tales there are often derelict, abandoned, and at-risk vessels floating in the abundant and ever-changing waters of our world.
