Magic or Fantasy?

There is what seems like a fine line between real witchcraft and fantasy witchcraft–for example, the difference between Harry Potter and real witchcraft… which many beginners may not realize, is not so much of a fine line, but a huge break in reality. Sometimes newcomers are not aware that magic doesn’t manifest in such fantastic visual forms–it can and will manifest in the most mundane ways possible. So much so, that at times it doesn’t seem like anything has happened at all, because when we ask for the universe to manifest certain things in our lives they come about in ways that we question whether or not it is just coincidence. In the reality of magic, it can sometimes seem like things aren’t happening at all and therefore causes disbelief.

So You Want to Be a Witch?

Coming out to the world as a Pagan or a Witch is often the most anxiety-inducing part about having an alternative path in life. Never fear, it’s not mandatory to come out and if you prefer to keep your practice to yourself, that is most certainly your choice. Never let anyone tell you that there are mandatory requirements in your practice, because what works for you, is for you, and you alone to decide.

Why Moose’d I Be Careful?

When you live in Alaska, a lot of people have preconceived notions of what your life must be like–I suppose like any well-known region, they believe what they see about it on television, or they assume things based on widely distributed ideas or misinterpreted facts. I feel it’s incredibly important to try and get these facts right, so maybe I have a chance to straighten things up one post at a time. Moose (Alces alces), as they are known in North America–they’re called Elk in Europe–are the largest member of the deer family. They’re even bigger in the Alaskan and Yukon regions, ranging from 800 lbs. (small adult female) to 1,600 lbs. (large adult male) and reaching nearly six feet in height. Suffice it to say, these animals although beautiful and majestic are not something that you want to run into in the middle of the night on your way to the outhouse.
